Since the start of this photography class, my mother has become extremely interested in the subject and gives my awful advice on how to make my pictures better. When given the chance to control the photoshoot she takes full advantage and we spent an absurdly long time taking her picture, most of which she didn't approve of and carefully watched me delete them. But while making me go completely crazy sometimes, my mother is most likely the only thing in the world keeping me from losing my mind during the quarantine. This photograph was taken in front of a window in the afternoon light so that the face would be optimally illuminated. This was out studio so the background was not optimally bland with the piano in the background, but it was sufficiently out of focus. In both photographs there is a formal balance with both sides of the image being identical. Selective focus was used to draw attention to the person and blur out the relevant background.
