This is a photograph of a nearly bloomed dandelion that I found near a stream. I chose this location because I liked the bright yellow color of the flower, as well as the green background. I usually associate dandelions with the annoyance of trying to get rid of them in the Summer, so this image conveys the happy feeling of Summer, but also a slightly annoyed feeling of the never ending battle against the pest. There were no problems in shooting this photo.
This photo was taken in a nearby forest of early spring flowers. I chose this location because the bright flowers contrasted nicely with the rather bland forest floor of dried leaves and the still bear trees in the background. In this photo I hoped to convey the feeling of hope that is often associated with spring and the start of summer. The only issue with shooting this photo was that my own shadow got in the way. It was awkward to take a photo in a way that didn't show my shadow.
This was a photograph made of a stream that runs through the neighborhood. I chose this location because of the curve of the stream and the contrast between the bright green grass and the darker water and rocks. in this image I wanted to portray a calm feeling from the water and the shadows of the trees on the grass and water. This image was difficult to take because it didn't quite show the movement of the water as well as i'd hoped. The stream had little ripples in it which didn't show up on camara.
This is a picture of a tree in full bloom. These trees are striking in their white flowers and to me almost look like snow. This is one of my favorite trees to photograph because of its amazing color. These trees stood near my house and had to be photographed at a pretty specific angle due to the house that stood nearby. With this image I am trying to convey the hopefulness of spring through the blooming flowers and bright blue skies.
This is an image of a fallen tree that I found in a nearby woods. I choose this location and image because the roots of the tree had very interesting shapes, and the background was also very pretty with the dried leaves in the front and then the more green forest floor in the back. In this image I hoped to convey energy from the intricate pattern of the roots and the jumble of trees in the back. Overall this image was not difficult to take, but the pattern of the roots didn't come out as well on camera as in person. There are a lot more curves and twines that were lost in the shadows that didn't show up.
