Monday April 6
Humans generally have to deal with thing not always being under their control. With the corona virus this has been even more so. It is good to have things in life which are stable, constant, and reliable. Recently I have been at a loss for these such things until I looking out my window a couple of days ago and noticed that the trees that stood with bare branches for many long months had begun to bloom. Spring is reliable and constant and every year it covers the baren limbs of trees with vibrant flowers, buds and pollum dust. My favorite tree to watch bloom is the magnolia that stands just outside my bedroom window, and I will get to watch it at its most beautiful for the weeks to come.
Tuesday April 7
Walking outside I saw that the springtime had pulled the entire animal kingdom out of hiding. Animals completely ignorant of the fact that the world is in absolute shambles. This was so inspiring, showed me that only the human world had changed. For animals it is the same, perhaps even improved with factories shutting down. I tried to capture the various animals that I saw but unfortunately was only able to capture a blur of a bird or the butts of rapidly retreating ducks. The one animal that was completely willing to pose for me was the fat, slow, remarcably fuzzy Michigan squirrel. They climbed to a branch directly out of reach, stared me down, and mockingly wagged their bushy tails at me.
Wednesday April 8
For the first time in many years I am able to enjoy the coming of spring from the outdoor and marvel at the cloudless sky and sprouting trees. I can scarcely remember a springtime not spent cowering over textbooks and homework. Finally I have a chance to go outside without guilt of putting of assignments trying to drag me back into the house. I walked all over the neighborhood, climbed a couple of trees, and burned my bear feet on the roof of my house trying to capture the true magnitude of the cloudless sky stretching from horizon to horizon.
Thursday April 9
As the weather forecast correctly predicted April snow, my house suddenly became a lot more desirable to stay in. And with me always are my three fuzzy pals who have given me an immeasurable amount of comfort since coming into my life. Preferring my room to all the others in the house I am never alone, something that many people struggle with during this quarantine. Sitting on my lap, curled up in a chair, or glaring at me from under my bed, all three of my pets were roused from their neverending slumber and grudgingly endure their photoshoots.
